The Year that Was, The Year Ahead.

It was a big finish to a busy year full of growth for us, with some significant client matters concluding late (very late) in the year.

ALG Proudly Supports UCLA Anderson's Challenge for Charity.

According to their website, UCLA's Challenge for Charity (C4C) is the largest charitable organization at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Last year, UCLA C4C raised $55,000 and volunteered over 2,400 hours for two charities: Special Olympics and LA Works. You can contribute to C4C here: Contribute to Anderson C4C

Corporate Law Update

We continue to build our corporate practice representing entrepreneurs, emerging companies, privately-held corporations that are leaders in their respective markets as well as non-profit corporations or associations. Recent client engagements include: (1) LLC formation along with negotiation and documentation of a six-figure software development contract; (2) negotiation and documentation of a JV agreement and (3) recurring general counsel work for existing corporate clients.

Real Estate Law Update

We have a full service real estate practice, representing buyers, sellers and developers in real estate transactions and financings, as well as representing clients involved in real estate disputes in a variety of forums including mediation, arbitration and civil litigation. Representative recent client engagements include: (1) Serving as borrower's counsel on a $6 million long term financing; (2) Representing a large commercial Tenant in lease dispute with Landlord; and (3) ongoing Landlord advisory services.

In addition to our core real estate legal services, we we are proud to announce the launch of our Real Estate Brokerage, operating as separate corporation. We are a fully licensed California Real Estate Broker, and will be doing business under the name Adishian Capital Corporation. Additional details to follow. Executive-Level Wrongful Termination Law Update

Representing talented, highly compensated corporate professionals throughout the state continues to be a core piece of our practice. The Dore Decision. Some of our colleagues representing employers believe that the recent Dore decision has somehow made California a "super at will" state. We don't read it that way. Our view is that the Doredecision simply stated that absent a legal theory outside of the underlying at will employer-employee relationship, "at will" shields the employer. In Dore the Plaintiff either lacked such claims, failed to plead such claims or lacked sufficient evidence to support such claims. Regardless, nothing we read in Dore seems to abrogate long established employees' rights under California Public Policy, California Statute or Tort.
